Pastor Geary Witt – Senior Pastor

Pastor Geary Witt is a lifelong resident of this area. He grew up in Wooddale, attended the First Evangelical United Brethren Church of Connellsville, and graduated from Connellsville Area High School in 1970. He earned a B.A. degree in Biblical Literature at Shelton College, Cape May, New Jersey and participated in a short term study tour of the Holy Land while he was there.

In 1974, Pastor Witt began his pastoral ministry training at Faith Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He returned to western Pennsylvania in 1977, attended Fairview Community Church, and began working at Teen Quest where he developed a satellite Bible club program and the Teen Quest’s summer camping program at Laurel Hill State Park.

In 1978 Pastor Witt accepted a call to the ministry from Wooddale Church of the Brethren, and in 1984, when the church determined that it could best serve the community by dissolving its relationship with the denomination, continued as pastor of the newly formed Wooddale Bible Brethren Church.

In an effort to maintain a broad ministry to the residents of Southwestern Pennsylvania, he (along with his twin brother, Pastor Barry Witt) produced a daily radio program called “Faith for Living” which aired on WCVI for over 16 years.

In 1979 Geary met Merry Dawn Taylor, who was an ordained missionary with New Tribes Mission. After a six-week mission trip to South America, Dawn attended three New Tribes schools; receiving her Bible education at Waukesha, Wisconsin, jungle training at Rochester, Pennsylvania, and language training at Camdenton, Missouri. On July 12, 1980. Geary and Dawn were married and have been blessed with six children, Melissa, Rebecca, Jonathan, Jessica, Christopher, and Cassandra.

In November, 2012, Geary entered his 35th year as pastor, where together with the Wooddale Bible Brethren Church, he serves the residents of Wooddale and the surrounding communities.
